In a world where we are preaching unity and joint implementation, such is not the case with Nkhatabay district. It was sad to note that even during this period of the COVID-19 pandemic there is only one partner in the district- ONSE.
According to Nkhotakota District WASH Coordinator Wilfred Manda, ONSE has been the only partner in the district for over five years now. According to Manda, other partners have alluded that ONSE is already a big partner to supplement the needs of the district. “After attaining ODF; all partners left.
According to Thoko Kapazga from ONSE, they work with Nkhotakota District Hospital Office and they fund project and the DHO implements. However, much as they are doing so, joint efforts from different players would make a huge impact otherwise it is challenging to ensure that ALL needs are met.
According to an official from the hospital, ONSE supports 30% of the activities.
Meanwhile, WES Network secretariat is appealing to all stakeholders to invest in joint implementation saying there is power in unity. Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress and working together is success” Henry Ford.
